UPI service stalled for a few hours across the country, problems for common people and traders

On Saturday morning, technical disturbances were seen in UPI (Unified Payments Interface) service across the country, causing difficulty in making digital payments to millions of users. This temporary obstruction not only affected the common people but also affected business transactions.

According to the dowdatector report, 1168 complaints were filed by noon. Most of these complaints came from Google Pay (96) and Paytm (23) users. However, no official response was given by the UPI to this problem. The news of service to normal was revealed by around 1:30 pm.

UPI service stalled for a few hours

Earlier, on 26 March, there was a huge blockage in the UPI service. On most apps that day, users had to face trouble for two to three hours.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) stated the cause of this blockage to temporarily affected the system. This affected the common consumers as well as traders.

Dependence and effect on UPI

This recent problem made it clear that the country’s digital payment system has become very dependent on the UPI. Whenever there is a technical fault in the system, it directly affects the economic activities of the country.

Many big banks like HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, Bank of Baroda, and Kotak Mahindra Bank were also affected due to this time interruption.

New change regarding international payment

Meanwhile, on 8 April, NPCI made a new announcement regarding the UPI International Payment.
Now international payment facility has been discontinued through QR code.
NPCI took this step to ensure that the user could be identified properly during the payment.

However, the general UPI payment and other transactions made through the QR code within the country will have no effect and no change has been made in their limit.
