In a case that seems straight out of a Bollywood script, a 40-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly allegedly concocted an elaborate scheme to frame Mayor Dr Umesh Gautam.

The woman claimed that on March 29, five individuals kidnapped her, gang-raped her in a moving car, and then shot her in the chest before abandoning her. Injured, she reportedly made her way to a hospital and contacted police.

However, police investigation has revealed shocking details about the case. According to reports, the woman enlisted the help of a quack doctor to implant a bullet in her chest through a surgical procedure. Hindi newspaper Navbharat Times reported that she paid the quack doctor 2,500 rupees for this dangerous procedure.

The woman previously worked as a domestic helper at the Mayor’s residence until 2021, when she was dismissed by the Mayor’s wife. This wasn’t her first accusation against the Mayor – she had filed a similar complaint in 2022, which was closed after investigation.

In her statement to police, the woman alleged that Mayor Umesh Gautam and his son Parth were behind the attack. She claimed that Parth had called the kidnappers during the alleged incident, instructing them to “finish her off” as she was creating problems for his father.

She further stated that after receiving this call, the kidnappers shot her in the chest and left her for dead on the road. However, when police examined CCTV footage from the area, inconsistencies in her story became apparent.

Medical evidence and CCTV footage revealed that the bullet in her chest had been surgically implanted rather than fired from a weapon. Officials suggested that personal grievances or political pressure might have motivated the woman to fabricate the entire incident to falsely implicate the Mayor and his son.
