The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain and strong thunderstorms in many areas of the state. This is expected to provide some relief in temperature. According to the department, light rain may occur in the Terai areas of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. At the same time, a warning of thunderstorms has been issued in many districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh on Friday.
Bulandshahr was the hottest
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature in many districts of the state reached 40 degrees Celsius. Bulandshahr and Fatehpur were the hottest cities. The temperature of the capital Lucknow was recorded at 37.4 degrees Celsius. Due to frequent fluctuations in temperature, people are facing heat both times day and night.
Districts with possibility of rain and thunderstorms
On 18 and 19 April, there is a possibility of rain and thunderstorms in about 35 districts including Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Varanasi, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Mau, Ballia, Kushinagar in eastern and central Uttar Pradesh.
There is also a possibility of strong wind and light rain in districts like Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Meerut, Mathura, Agra and Jhansi in western Uttar Pradesh. There is also a risk of damage to crops due to thunderstorms and strong winds in these areas.
Fear of increasing heat at night
The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of increasing night time in districts like Banda, Aligarh, Mainpuri, Hamirpur, Mahoba and Jhansi. In view of this change of weather, farmers have been advised to be cautious and the general public to be cautious about the possibility of storm and lightning.
