On Wednesday evening, strong winds lashed at a speed of 79 km per hour and there was hailstorm with rain. Due to this, trees, electric poles and hoardings fell in many areas. At the same time, metro rail and air traffic were also affected due to bad weather, due to which the passengers had to face a lot of trouble. At the same time, electricity supply was stalled in many places till late night.

Aircraft flight affected

IndiGo said in a post on social media platform ‘X’ that our flight time has been affected due to heavy rains and thunderstorms in Delhi, Chandigarh and Kolkata. Air India said in a post on ‘X’ that flights from Delhi could be interrupted due to rain and thunder-glow. SpiceJet had said in a post on ‘X’ that all visiting flights could be affected due to bad weather (thunder with heavy rains) in Delhi.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), strong winds and dust storms occurred in many parts of the capital. The city’s primary weather center Safdarjung recorded the wind speed 79 km per hour, while Palam recorded 74 km per hour, Pragati Maidan 78 km per hour and Pitampura 65 km per hour. Safdarjung recorded 12.2 mm of rain in three hours between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm. At the same time, according to media reports, three people died in Ghaziabad, 2-2 people in Ghaziabad due to rain. 12 people lost their lives in Uttar Pradesh itself.

8 flights late from Delhi Airport

Eight flights including London, Paris, Frankfurt and Singapore were delayed from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi due to heavy rains and thunderstorms. At the same time, the flight to Tel Aviv was canceled. Many flights were diverted to another place.

At the same time, the operation of the metro on Yellow, Red and Pink Lines in Delhi was stopped due to thunderstorms. Because of this, the passengers remained stranded for hours. At the same time, Aqua Line Metro operations were also interrupted. On this line, the metro going to Greater Noida depot went to Pari Chowk.

Trees fell 25 places in Delhi

Trees fell in more than 25 places in Delhi. The routes were closed due to falling trees on major routes like Pant Marg, Mahadev Road, Tughlaq Road and Vinay Marg. There was heavy waterlogging under Tilak Bridge near Akshardham flyover, Sikandra Road and ITO. Due to thunderstorms, glass broke in many societies in Noida and Greater Noida. 4-5 vehicles were damaged due to the fall of a rod in the Galaxy Vega Society in Greno.

Weather took a turn in Uttar Pradesh

In Uttar Pradesh, the weather suddenly took a turn on Wednesday evening. Ghaziabad and Noida in UP received heavy rains. Apart from this, there was also hailstorm. If it is raining somewhere in the state, then the heat continues. In the western and eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh, there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms today. Strong winds (40-50 km per hour) and dust storm can also be seen in some areas. The Meteorological Department has still predicted rain in many states including Delhi, UP, MP.

Monsoon will knock
