News India Live, Digital Desk: Up news: The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday approved the ‘Stage Carriage Bus Station, Contract Carriage and All India Tourist Bus Park Policy 2025’. Under this new policy, a regulatory authority will be set up in each district under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate (DM). The authority will conduct the application process to private investors to set up bus stand, contract carase park and All India Tourist Bus Park.
Union Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that there has been an increase in the number of buses due to increase in basic facilities and road connectivity in the state, which has increased the risk of parking problems and accidents. In view of this, the Transport Department has prepared this policy.
Main point of policy:
- Each district will have a regulatory body headed by DM.
- The body will include SSP, Police Commissioner Nominated by the Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner, Secretary of Development Authority, Officer of Municipality-Nagar Panchayat, SDM, CO, ARTO, Assistant Regional Manager of Transport Corporation, and Executive Engineer of PWD.
- Two acres of land and assets worth at least Rs 50 lakh will be required to build a private bus station.
- The applicant should have a minimum turnover of Rs 2 crore in the last financial year.
- A maximum of two bus stations and only one bus station can be built in one district.
- Any investor will be allowed to build a maximum of ten bus stations in the entire state.
- Private institute will be allowed for 10 years, which can be carried forward on satisfactory performance.
- Ownership of bus stations will not be transferred before a year after the registration certificate is issued.
- The permission of the Regulatory Authority Operators may suspend or cancel the permission, against which an appeal can be made before the Mandalayukta.
This policy has been implemented with the aim of promoting private investment in the transport sector and improving public transport arrangements in the state.
