The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a big step to intensify the consolidation process to better use the land of the farmers of the state and resolve the land disputes. In this direction, the government has decided to start a special campaign in 1,700 villages, which will start from April 2025. The campaign includes villages where more than 50 percent of the farmers have agreed to consolidate.

Complete preparation and monthly review of the campaign

The Directorate of Consolidation has directed the District Magistrates to complete all the necessary preparations before the start of the campaign so that there is no obstruction. Additionally, by the 10th of every month, the districts will have to send their progress report to the Consolidation Commissioner, so that reviews can be done at the division and directorate level. To ensure that there is no inconvenience in the consolidation process, frequent monitoring and reporting will be done.

Review format fixed for transparency

A special review format has been prepared to resolve disputes related to farmers’ fields in a transparent manner. It includes important points like revision of the curse, checking of land, revised annual register, disposal of residue promises, publication of initial consolidation scheme, confirmation of consolidation scheme, possession change and disposal of appeals. This process will ensure that every step is taken in a transparent and effective manner, respecting the rights of farmers.

Consolidation officers are getting training

Consolidation officers are being trained in a phased manner to run this campaign properly. So far, the consolidation of 207 villages has been completed in the financial year of 2024-25, while in 2023-24, consolidation was successfully concluded in 781 villages. Officers are being fully trained so that they can complete the consolidation process quickly and correctly.

The speed of the consolidation process in Barabanki

The consolidation process in Barabanki district is moving rapidly. In the review meeting held at the Lok Auditorium at the Collectorate, DM Shashank Tripathi directed the officials to complete the consolidation work within the stipulated time. In the first phase of the district, the consolidation process is going on in six villages, while in the second phase this work will be started in 38 villages.

Illegal possession of government land will be removed

The DM directed that during the consolidation process, if the pasture, ponds and other government lands of the gram panchayats have been illegally occupied, it should be removed immediately. In addition, instructions have been given to take strict action against illegal plotting and encroachers on chakragamas. This step will ensure safety and proper use of government lands.

Need to accelerate the disposal of promises

The DM took a tough stand when the cases related to the consolidation were slow. He asked the officials to dispose of the cases as soon as possible and on merit basis. Action will be taken against the officers who give the date repeatedly. To ensure that all disputes are resolved quickly, strict instructions have been given to the authorities.
