The Uttar Pradesh government has planned to build a new religious area by combining Varanasi and Prayagraj. This decision is based on the suggestions of NITI Aayog, in which the UP government was advised to form the Regional Development Authority. Under this scheme, seven districts will be included along with Varanasi and Prayagraj and its area will be 22,000 square kilometers.

Under this scheme:
