Singer Jasleen Royal became the first Indian artist to open for Coldplay during the band’s highly anticipated concerts in Mumbai. She delivered the opening act on January 18 and 19 at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium, and the singer is all set to open Coldplay’s January 21 concert and their upcoming performances in Ahmedabad as well. Jasleen received praises from the audience, however, some concert-goers felt that the singer was an ‘absolute mismatch’ for the opening act at the concert.

Now, actress and Bigg Boss OTT fame Uorfi Javed came out in support of the singer and said it is a ‘big deal’ that Jasleen got an opportunity o share stage with Coldplay.

Taking to her Instagram story on Tuesday, hours before Coldplay’s third concert in Mumbai, Uorfi wrote, “I really believe in uplifting and supporting our own talent, I want to say that it’s a BIG DEAL that Jasleen got to share the stage with a band like Coldplay… The fact that Jasleen Royal was given this opportunity itself (without any backing) proves her hard work and talent.”

Further praising Jasleen, Uorfi wrote, “She is such a gifted artist. We have all loved her work all these years. Let’s encourage and applaud our artists… I’ve got your back girl.”

Reacting to Jasleen’s opening acts at the much-awaited concerts, a section of social media users said that she was ‘offbeat’ and ‘unbearable’.

“Jasleen Royal is the most PATHETIC opening act I’ve ever witnessed. Can’t believe she got to open for Coldplay. Not only was she an absolute mismatch for the vibe but also she was offbeat, hitting the wrong notes. It felt like a child was given a mic and didn’t know what to do with it,” an X user wrote.

“Her recorded songs are great, but the live performance and stage presence was just completely off,” wrote another user.

“I’m not exaggerating, all of our group had to take Saridon. Genuinely felt embarrassed. Elyanna and Shome must be judging us so bad. Why did they even pick her, like there are no good singers in India,” read another post on X.

A user commented, “That’s what happens when you give Autotune artists an opportunity to perform LIVE,” whereas another wrote, “She was bad on Saturday, was hoping she would be better on Sunday, but looks like she didn’t get any feedback.”

Jasleen is known for crooning songs like Din Shagna Da (Phillauri), Love You Zindagi (Dear Zindagi) and Ranjha (Shershaah).
