The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Administration organized the 76th Republic Day and 6th merger Day celebrations on 26 January, 2025 at zhanda Chowk School, Silvassa under the chairmanship of the Honorable Administrator, Mr. Praful Patel with great enthusiasm. The Chief Guest of the ceremony, Honorable Administrator, Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and Lakshadweep inaugurated the celebrations with flag hoisting and national anthem. After this, the parade was inspected by the Honorable Administrator. Addressing the gathering, Honorable Administrator Mr. Praful Patel wished everyone a Happy Republic Day and Merger Day with the slogan of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. In his presidential address, he remembered Sardar Patel and described the country’s history as glorious, threw light on the historical background and expressed happiness and said that on completion of 75 years, Dadra and Nagar Haveli’s tableau is being displayed in the 26th January parade today, incorporating the heritage of many cultures of India, which is giving a feeling of great pride. For this, he congratulated everyone.
Expressing happiness over the implementation of many projects made under development activities in the Union Territory under the leadership of the Honorable Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, he said that it is a matter of pride that excellent work has been done in the field of cleanliness in all the three districts of our Union Territory, the credit for which goes to the people of the state. Women of the state have been benefited by giving gas connections, bringing a big change in their lives.After this, the Indian Coast Guard, Police Department and Indian Reserve Battalion soldiers, Home Guard and Fire Brigade and NCC students marched past saluting the national flag with great enthusiasm and patriotism. After this, cultural programs were organized in which in the beautiful presentations of the colourful program, the children of Kendriya Shala Silvassa English Medium presented a dance performance on the song Vande Mataram. Under the Sports Department, making the martial arts tricks successful, ‘Malkhambh’ was presented, after which the students of Bal Bhavan Center gave a beautiful presentation of patriotism for the protection of the motherland. After this, excellent tableaux were displayed by various departments of the administration.
The mobile veterinary unit was inaugurated by the honorable administrator through remote. After this, he distributed cow cards and Silvan Didi carts to the beneficiaries under NRLM. After this, the winners of the Best March Past, Best Tableau Display, Best Light Decoration Award, Clean Government Department, Clean Panchayat Award and Clean SMC Ward Award were felicitated by the honourable administrator.
In this program including local politicians, Administrative Advisor Amit Singla, Deputy Inspector General of Police Milind Mahadev Dumbare, Collector (Dnh) Priyank Kishore, Superintendent of Police Amit Sharma, senior officers, District Panchayat, Gram Panchayat, Silvassa Municipality members and media personnel and representatives of the industry and the general public and children of Danah were specially present.
The program ended with the national anthem and the honourable administrator concluded the program by releasing tricolour balloons. The view of the sky immersed in patriotism decorated with tricolour balloons was worth seeing.
