Jaipur: Amid claims of a Shiv temple under the Ajmer Dargah, the sacred Chadar sent by PM Narendra Modi on the occasion of 813th Urs of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti was offered by Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju on Saturday afternoon.
During this wishing for peace and tranquility in the country, the minister said that offering a chadar on behalf of PM Modi is like offering it on behalf of the entire country. He also read the message of Prime Minister.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju reached Jaipur with the Chadar sent by PM Modi. While speaking to the media at Jaipur Airport, the minister said that visiting the Dargah of ‘Garib Nawaz’ during ‘Urs’ in Ajmer is an old tradition of our country.

“I have got the opportunity to offer ‘Chadar’ on behalf of PM Modi. This is a message of harmony and brotherhood and the Chadar is being offered with the prayer of having harmonious atmosphere in the country,” said the minister.
Since becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has offered ‘Chadar’ to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah every year. This year marked his 11th participation in this holy tradition.

The minister read PM Modi’s message among the pilgrims in the shrine. PM in his message said, “On the occasion of the 813th Urs of Gharib Nawaz, my hearty greetings to his followers across the world and all the devotees who have come to Ajmer Sharif. Our saints, pirs, fakirs and great men have blessed the people with their welfare thoughts and has illuminated their lives. Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti’s messages related to public welfare and humanity have left a deep impression on people, and he has faith all over the world. His life was dedicated to increasing love and harmony in the society. This message of his will continue to inspire us.”

While launching the Dargah Web Portal & the ‘Gharib Nawaz’ App and releasing the Operations Manual for Urs, the minister said that the arrangements in the Dargah should get better and the Ministry will work for this.
“The Garib Nawaz web portal and App have been launched, through which the administration and the Dargah Committee can do more for the convenience of the people coming here.”The facilities will get better, especially for the elderly, women, and children to make their pilgrimage peaceful,” said the minister.
Notably, a few days ago, a lawsuit was filed in the court claiming a Shiva temple within the premises of the revered shrine. The court, while accepting the petition, had sought responses from the Ajmer Dargah Committee, the Ministry of Minority Affairs, and the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The next hearing in the case is scheduled on January 24th.
