Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is likely to visit West Bengal by the March end probably after the announcement of the new state president.

Ahead of the state Assembly elections scheduled in 2026, several organizational changes and internal elections are being done inside the saffron camp.

According to party sources, the name of the new state president will be announced by Holi following which the Union Home Minister is likely to visit the state.

“Names of MP Jyotirmoy Singh Mahato, former MP Locket Chatterjee, Rajya Sabha MP Shamik Bhattacharya are there in the list of probable next state president. Apart from these names, Dilip Ghosh, Agnimitra Paul’s name are also being discussed,” said the party sources.

According to party sources, Shah is likely to hold a meeting with the new state president and will discuss strategy for the Assembly polls scheduled next year.

Notably, last Thursday in a mega meeting Trinamool Congress (TMC) Supremo had asked the party workers and leaders to start preparing for the Assembly elections and also told the people that TMC will get two-third majority next year.

Meanwhile, RSS, BJP is holding a two days coordination meeting to discuss strategy for the 2026 state Assembly election.
