He questioned the quality of the airline when Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan got a broken and sunken seat in Air India flight during his visit from Bhopal to Delhi. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) immediately summoned the reply from Air India on this issue.

Expressing his displeasure over the social media platform x, the Union Minister wrote –
“I have no problem with inconvenience, but after charging the full fare from the passengers, is it not immoral to give them a bad and uncomfortable seat? Is this not cheating on passengers? “

Action of DGCA and Ministry of Civil Aviation
The Ministry of Civil Aviation became active after the Union Minister’s statement.
- Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that DGCA has sought an answer from Air India and directed for necessary action.
- The Ministry has also sought an explanation on the matter from Air India CEO CEO Campbell Wilson.
- A spokesman for the Ministry of Civil Aviation said that instructions have been given to resolve the issue on priority.
Air India apologizes
Air India regretted the incident and said-
“We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused to the Honorable Union Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chauhan in the flight from Bhopal to Delhi. It does not suit Air India’s service standards. We are investigating the matter thoroughly so that such incidents do not happen again in future. ”
