Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The transport department has issued the guidelines to inspect the vehicles at 45 check points across the state, said officials on Friday.

Transport check posts may have been closed in the state, but, complaints of illegal recovery from trucks and vehicles continues to pour in.

The transport commissioner has issued a new order and clear guidelines have been given in eight points regarding vehicle checking by the department staff.

Eight-point guidelines

1. Checking will be done only in the presence of at least one assistant transport sub inspector level officer.

2. At the time of checking, the entire staff should be in uniform with name badge. Body worn cameras are mandatory while checking.

3. No private person other than the driver attached to the unit should be directly or indirectly involved during the checking process.

4. Challan proceedings should be done only through POS (Point of Sale) machine. Where there is no POS machine, the in-charge should ensure to use it immediately.

5. Only one vehicle should be stopped at a time by the unit and any other vehicle should be stopped only after checking it and taking action against it.

6. No vehicle should be stopped for more than 15 minutes without any specific reason. Otherwise, it will be considered that the unit’s intentions regarding stopping the vehicle are not correct.

7. If checking is necessary at night, then such a place should be chosen for checking where no accident occurs due to lack of light.

8. If there is any dispute during checking then the team will be required to record the entire episode in the camera
