The Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has come into force in Uttarakhand from today. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated UCC portal and rules in the Chief Servant Sadan. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Rajya Sabha Speaker have reacted to this. He congratulated the Uttarakhand government on the matter. At the same time, the Vice President hoped that one day UCC will be implemented in the whole country.

In this regard, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that according to Article 44 of the Indian Constitution, the state will try to ensure a uniform civil code for citizens across India. Today we are all very happy. On the completion of 75 years of the Constitution, Devbhoomi Uttarakhand adopted the Uniform Civil Code. One kingdom did this. I congratulate the government for its foresight. He realized the dream of the constitution makers by implementing the Uniform Civil Code in his state. I am sure it is only a matter of time and one day the Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the whole country.
UCC implemented in Uttarakhand from today
Uttarakhand became the first state in the country to implement the Uniform Civil Code. For this, an expert committee was formed on 27 May 2022. The committee submitted its report to the government on 2 February 2024. After this, this bill passed in the assembly on 8 March 2024. After passing from the assembly, it was sent for the approval of the President. From here, the Act received the President’s approval on 12 March 2024. This was followed by a technology -based system for the implementation of UCC. An online portal was developed for citizens and officials. On January 20, the cabinet finalized and passed the UCC rules. Transport Minister Anil Vij of Haryana Government Anil Vij appreciated the move of the Uttarakhand government. He said that there should be only one law in a country.
