Pune: In a disturbing incident, a 38-year-old IT engineer, Madhav Tiketi, was arrested for allegedly murdering his three-and-a-half-year-old son due to suspicions about his wife’s character, as per reports on Friday. The accused slit the child’s throat, abandoned the body in a deserted area, and fled.

The case surfaced when the child’s mother filed a missing person complaint at Chandannagar police station, reporting that her husband and son had been untraceable since Thursday afternoon. The police immediately launched an investigation, analyzing CCTV footage from various locations, including Lohgaon, Vadgaonsheri and Hadapsar.

Surveillance footage from Thursday at 2:30 pm showed Madhav walking with his son. However, by 5:00 pm, he was seen alone, purchasing clothes, which raised suspicions. Using mobile tracking, the police traced him to a lodge in Vadgaonsheri, where he was found intoxicated, reported Pune Pulse.

Madhav Confessed To The Crime

Upon regaining consciousness, Madhav confessed to the crime, admitting that he had killed his son and disposed of the body near the highway. He later led the police to the crime scene, where the child’s blood-soaked body was recovered.

Suspicions About Wife’s Fidelity Led To Child’s Murder

DCP (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav stated that Madhav had been unemployed for two months after previously working in the IT sector. His increasing suspicions about his wife’s fidelity and doubts regarding his son’s paternity ultimately drove him to commit the crime.

Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne of Chandannagar police station revealed that the crime was premeditated. Madhav had purchased a knife and a blade before taking the child with him. The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigation is underway.

Originally from Visakhapatnam, Madhav had moved to Pune in 2016 for work. He is currently in police custody and legal proceedings against him are ongoing.
