The South China Morning Post (SCMP) mentioned in its report netizens on its local social media platforms condemning the act of a company in China making its employees consume fire during a team building session. The report quoted the words of online users and termed the team-building activity “unreasonable”.
Activity aimed to “confront fear”
The activity required employees to hold a stick attached to a cotton bud, which was set on fire. People had to place the fuming cotton bud into their mouths. They were introduced to this concerning activity claiming it was a means to confront fear and boost one’s confidence.

Employee reveals incident on social media
“Performers must control their breathing, keep their mouth moist, and time the closure precisely”, the local news media outlet wrote, accessing the post of an employee from the company who revealed about the bizarre activity she and her colleagues were asked to engage in.
The employee confessed that she participated in the chilling activity to save her job. In her post, she reportedly expressed she feared to drop the flamed cotton bud into her mouth but eventually did it with the fear of losing her job.
She mentioned that 60 people divided into six groups participated in this activity.
