Thane: The Central Police in Ulhasnagar have registered a case against a man who used the name of fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari to call Ulhasnagar’s ex-corporator Godhumal Kishani’s son, businessman Pravin Kishani, for not going to court to give his deposition regarding the extortion case.
The police said that Pravin Kishani is the son of Godhumal Kishani, who received a call on his phone on November 30 around 12 AM. The unknown caller mentioned the fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari by name and told them not to go to court and to refrain from giving their deposition in an extortion case filed in 2014. The caller threatened him with dire consequences if he would go to court and give his deposition.
The police said Pravin approached the police station and narrated the entire incident to the senior police inspector regarding the call. Subsequently, a case was lodged under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.
Shankar Awatade, senior Police Inspector from the Central Police Station, said, “The complainant approached us on Monday to lodge a case. We booked a case against the caller. We were going through the number to determine who called him on the phone. We formed a team and are investigating the matter.”
The police sources said that in the 2014 extortion case, the fugitive gangster Ravi Pujari’s name was also mentioned in the offence.
