The statement came after two separate conversations with former US President Donald Trump, who earlier claimed that Russia and Ukraine would start “immediate” ceasefire talks. However, Zelansky insisted that if Russia is not ready to prevent enmity, it would have to face strict sanctions to force it to real peace talks.

He clearly stated, “Ukraine is ready for direct interaction with Russia, which brings results,” he suggested several possible places including Turkey, Vatican and Switzerland. He emphasized that it is not necessary to explain Ukraine, as Ukrainian representatives are fully prepared to interact meaningfully. Zelansky insisted that the important element is a mutual readiness to participate in concrete discussions from Russia.
Demanding the support and participation of Western countries in the peace process, he advocated involving American and European representatives in the talks and argued that the participation of all stakeholders is necessary for fair evaluation of proposals from both sides.
