University Grants Commission or UGC has further extended the deadline for giving feedback on the draft UGC Minimum Qualifications for Appointment and Promotion of Teachers and Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education, Regulations 2025.

According to the official notice, “In view of requests received from stakeholders to extend the last date to submit feedback on the draft UGC regulations 2025, UGC has now decided to extend the last date to February 28, 2025. Stakeholders can submit feedback on the draft regulations till 28/02/2025.”

The draft regulations are placed on the UGC website as of 6 January 2025. Initially, the deadline is fixed as February 5, 2025, but owing to the demands of the stakeholders concerned, the new deadline is being provided by UGC till 28 February 2025.

Educators, researchers, and institutions can respond with their inputs for the draft regulations up to February 28, 2025, on email at [email protected].

According to the latest draft guidelines from the UGC, candidates who pass the UGC-NET in any subject even if their undergraduate and graduate degrees are in different fields can now be considered for professor posts at higher education institutions. The recommendations also call for modifications to the vice-chancellor selection process. Professionals from academia, research institutions, public policy, public administration, and industry will now be included in the eligibility requirements.
