Shiv Sena UBT leader and Uddhav Thackeray’s close aide Milind Narvekar posted a photo of the Babri Masjid demolition along with Balasaheb Thackeray’s statement praising Karsewaks in a post on X on Friday, sparking a buzz in the political circle whether the party is toying with the idea of leaving the MVA and joining hands with the BJP.

Narvekar’s post shows photos of Balasaheb Thackeray, his son Uddhav Thackeray and grandson Aaditya Thackeray along with his own. The post quotes Bala Saheb Thackeray as saying, “The ones who did this, I am proud of them,”

Soon after the post, people including leaders from Opposition parties in Maharashtra took to X to slam Shiv Sena UBT. They questioned Congress and NCP SP whether they wanted to associate with such a political outfit that takes pride in the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

SP MLA from Bhiwandi in a post on X condemned the “glorification of the dark day in India’s history. He wrote, “This is to remind you that the @ShivSenaUBT_party enjoyed enormous support from secular votes in the last two elections—Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha. The glorification of the dark day in India’s history is uncalled for & unwarranted. I strongly condemn such kind of glorification.”

Swara Bhasker’s husband, Fahad Ahmad, who recently fought Maharashtra Assembly elections on an NCP-SP ticket from Anushakti Nagar in Mumbai and lost, in a post on X said, “Celebrating Mob violence victory over constitutional values is obsession of imaginary past and it offers nothing to the citizens.Your party has failed to control and command the cadre, now you feel you will get the victory on the lines of communalism which I seriously doubt.”

An X user, @Indepthcomments wrote, “Milind Narvekar is right-hand man of Uddhav Thackeray, and he is giving credit to Bal Thackeray for Babri Masjid demolition. Does Cong-NCP want to associate with UBT Sena? Didn’t they know this before? We are blaming only BJP.”

Another X user said, “Milind Narvekar, a key Uddhav Thackeray camp leader, posts Babri Masjid demolition pic with Balasaheb Thackeray’s statement praising Karsewaks. Sparks buzz about UBT possibly leaving MVA & returning to Hindutva roots. Big political shift?’

According to reports, Balasaheb Thackeray played a major role in the Ram Temple movement. According to Shiv Sena UBT leader Sanjay Raut, when the Babri Masjid was demolished in 1992, the BJP blamed Thackeray and he took the responsibility.
