UCC: The ambitious Civil Code of the Central Government is being opposed all over the country, now its effect is being seen in Gujarat as well. In protest against the Uniform Civil Code, various tribal org.zations of Chhotaudepur registered their protest by sending a petition to the District Collector. State Vice President of Aam Aadmi Party Arjun Rathwa also joined the protest.
The government is trying to bring a uniform citizenship law in the country. The tribal community is protesting about this at various places. Today a large number of tribals participated along with tribal org.zation of Chhotaudepur district, sarpanch of gram panchayat and social leaders. Slogans were raised against the UCC Act at the District Collector’s office. According to tribal org.zations, the UCC Act will harm the rights of tribals. The leaders advocated strongly not to implement the UCC law and also warned of fierce agitation if the law is implemented. The special thing is that Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal has announced his support in favor of UCC, while on the other hand Aam Aadmi Party’s tribal leader and State Vice President of Gujarat Arjun Rathwa has also come out against the UCC Act and It is said that society is more important than the party.
