A man who had placed an online food order was surprised when the delivery was handed to him by a male rider, despite the app indicating that a woman would be making the delivery. Confused by the unexpected switch, X user Matt Stevens took to social media, tagging Uber to bring attention to the discrepancy.
“Hi, Uber. Can you please explain to me why my food, which was supposed to be delivered by a woman, was delivered by a middle-aged man? Thanks, look forward to your reply,” Stevens wrote on X.

Additionally, he escalated the matter by reaching out via email through a Member of Parliament, highlighting that this was the second occurrence of such an issue in the past six months.
In response, Uber acknowledged his concerns and requested further details regarding the incident. The company assured him that a team member would follow up to address the matter.
According to the screenshot shared by Stevens, the food delivery was assigned to a woman named Sadia, who was supposed to arrive on a Honda PCX. However, contrary to what was displayed on the app, a man ultimately arrived at the customer’s location to hand over the order, leading to confusion and concern.
A part of his mail read, “I am a constituent of yours and a particular issue I’d like to raise to your attention is the recent uptick of illegal working in the food delivery sector. Attached are two separate examples from the past six months of deliveries I’ve had, that were supposed to be delivered by person A but instead were delivered by person B.”
“A recent study showed that as many as 4 in 10 UberEats drivers in London are working illegally. Given that food delivery drivers are often in interaction with young women and in occasion children, this uptick is of extreme concern,” it added.
Responding to the complaint, Uber wrote on X, “We’d like to follow up with you right away. Please send us a DM with the phone number and email address attached to your account along with the order info and any additional details, and a member of our team will get in touch.”
