Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The Enforcement Directorate seized several documents related to government contracts, sale deeds, and house registry papers from the residences of former RTO constable Saurabh Sharma and his aide Chetan Gaur on Friday.
Notably, the ED sleuths raided eight locations linked to Sharma across Bhopal, Gwalior, and Jabalpur on Friday. The searches continued for 16 hours. Two masked people—a man and a woman, said to have detailed information about Sharma and Gaur—also accompanied the ED officials during the raid.
The ED officials reached Gwalior as tourists on Thursday. They hired local taxis and conducted a rekey around the locations linked to Saurabh Sharma, accused of money laundering. The officials raided Sharma’s bungalow located at Shabd Pratap Ashram in Vinay Nagar Sector-2 on Friday around 5 am.
The intense search continued for about 16 hours till late at night, and CRPF officers were also deployed for security. During the raid, a sale deed, a diary, and other documents related to the registration of the house were seized. House staff named Sangram was also questioned.
Another ED team raided the residence of Saurabh’s friend and partner Chetan Gaur in Kampu. No one was present in the house. It was told that ED seized several documents related to government contracts from Chetan’s residence.
It is said that Chetan had invested relatives’ money in Saurabh’s business and the team had come here to investigate the files. Chetan had also given 3 cars in return for which he used to get 2.5 lakh rupees every month.
Sharma celebrated son’s birthday in Dubai
It was also found out that Saurabh had celebrated his son’s birthday with his wife Divya in Dubai some time ago. The investigation also revealed that Saurabh also has several relatives in Dubai.
The ED team then raided the Thumb Dance Studio located in the city center and was present there for some time. When Saurabh and his family lived in Gwalior, his wife Divya used to run the dance studio.
Sharma has been absconding, and a lookout notice has been issued against him. It is said that he is likely in Dubai.
A few days ago, on December 19, gold weighing 52 kg and Rs 10 crore in cash were recovered from an abandoned car in a Bhopal jungle. The seized items are linked to Sharma.
