Nowgong (Chhatarpur): The same sex weddings have become a daily affair these days. But if such an incident takes place for the first time and that too in a place like Nowgong in Chhatarpur district, it generates lot of interests among the residents. And it happened when two girls walked the aisle.

The incident became more fascinating when the family members of both the girls happily accepted their tying the knot. The yarn of their love went viral on social media.  According to reports, a resident of Dauriya village in Chhatarpur, 23-year-old Sonam Yadav disappeared.

Her family members filed a missing person’s complaint at Nowgown police station. When the police checked Sonam’s phone calls, they came to know that she was in Kanpur.

Sonam told her family members that she would soon visit her parents. When she reached Dauriya village, she was not alone. There was another girl with her. Sonam’s family members and her neighbours failed to understand anything.

But when she related her story, everyone was shocked. Sonam said the name of the other girl was Mansi Varman whom she befriended through Instagram. Both fell in love with each other. When her family members came to know that the girls wanted to marry each other, they accepted it.

Nevertheless, the temple management refused to give permission for the same sex marriage. Yet, the family members were not scared. They then went to the Nowgong police station where Sonam and Mansi tied the knot.

They were also welcomed to Sonam’s home with all the rituals. Sonam is the bridegroom and Mansi is the bride. Her family members said they loved their daughter so they accepted the wedding.

After the wedding ceremony, both left for Assam where they were undergoing a vocational training. Both sang an old Bollywood number: “Dekha Hain Teri Ankhon Mein Pyar Hi Pyar Besumar… (We’ve seen an ocean of love in each other’s eyes…”
