Punjab News: Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar today said that in a drive to curb malpractices in the state’s public bus service, two drivers have been arrested for stealing 35 liters of diesel in two separate cases.
The Transport Minister said that the Minister’s flying squad had checked at various places in Haryana in the past. He said that Rajpal Singh, the driver of bus number PB-12-Y 1540 of Punbus Depot Rupnagar, was caught red-handed stealing about 20 liters of diesel during the checking done at Sirsa bus stand at 10.30 pm last night.
Similarly, while checking at the bus stand of Hisar (Haryana) at night, bus number PB-04-AA of Panbus Depot Sri Muktsar Sahib was found. A case of theft of about 15 liters of diesel has been registered against the driver of 7459, Lakhwinder Singh.
Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that apart from this, the minister’s flying squad has also informed about a bus plying on an unauthorized route. In this case, during checking at Mullanpur Dakha, driver Baldev Singh and conductor Harpal Singh were caught taking the bus on unauthorized route leaving the passengers on the original route causing financial loss to the department. This bus (number PB-05-AB 5350) of Ferozepur Depot was being taken from the bridge instead of Mullanpur bus stand.
Similarly, bus number PB-02-EG 9376 of Amritsar-2 depot was found parked at an unauthorized dhaba in Balachaur. A report has been registered against driver Ranjit Singh and conductor Jagjit Singh in this matter. The Transport Minister has ordered the departmental officers to take appropriate departmental action against the drivers and conductors named in these cases.
