Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Berasia police on Tuesday arrested two brothers who shot at a 23-year-old girl student while she was on her terrace on January 13.

In contrast to earlier reports claiming that she was hit by stray pellet fired to shoot pigeons, questioning from the arrested accused revealed that they deliberately fired pellet at their niece over some old enmity on pretext of shooting pigeons, police officials said.

According to reports, BBA third year student Adeeba had gone to take clothes on her terrace on January 13 when an airgun pellet pierced through her chest. Adeeba was admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition where she is recovering from pellet wounds.

Initial investigations into the case indicated that the student received the pellet which was fired to shoot pigeons. Police registered an FIR against Adeeba’s neighbour Sabu who is also her uncle in relationship. However, Sabu and his brother both fled their homes.

In-charge at Berasia police station Arun Sharma said following a tip-off, accused Sabu and his brother Tahir have been arrested. On their confession, the airgun used in the crime has been recovered. During questioning the accused told police that they have shot at Adeeba as they had a grudge with her family members.
