Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh): In a significant anti-drug operation, officers from the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN), Jaora Cell, arrested two individuals on Friday, after intercepting their vehicle at Nayagaon Toll Plaza on the Chittorgarh-Baaran Highway near Kota, Rajasthan. The operation led to the seizure of 45 bags of poppy straw, weighing a total of 911.540 kg.
Acting on specific intelligence, CBN officers were alerted that the suspects were transporting poppy straw from the Manasa area of Madhya Pradesh to Bikaner in Rajasthan.
A dedicated team was formed and monitored the suspected route for over 36 hours. The vehicle was identified at Nayagaon Toll Plaza early in the morning. When CBN officers signalled the Mahindra Bolero pickup to stop, the suspects attempted to evade capture by colliding with the CBN vehicle.
They then reversed and struck a civilian vehicle, causing significant damage. Despite their efforts to escape, the officers successfully blocked their route and apprehended them. A thorough search of the pickup revealed a substantial haul of poppy straw.
Following the completion of legal formalities, both the narcotics and the vehicle were seized. The two individuals were arrested under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, highlighting the ongoing commitment of authorities to combat drug trafficking in the region.
