Jaipur, July 7 (Hindustan Times). The desert district of Barmer received torrential rains on Thursday after hot and humid weather for the last seven days. Heavy rain started at 9 o’clock last night, which continued intermittently throughout the night. It has rained two and a half inches here in two hours. Two to three feet of water flowed on the roads. A young man died due to lightning during the rain. The sky has been cloudy since morning on Friday. A game of hide and seek is going on between the sun and the clouds. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain for four days. It is cloudy in the capital Jaipur as well, but the condition is miserable due to humidity.
The Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of rain for the next 4-5 days in Barmer, Jaisalmer and Jalore districts of western Rajasthan. Yellow alert for rain has been issued till July 10. There will be heavy to moderate rain in many areas of the district. There is also a possibility of up to three inches of rain in many areas. In such a situation, an appeal has been made to stay away from the eye-catching areas in the middle of the rain.
The average rainfall figure of the season in Barmer district is 324 mm, while till now it has rained up to 255 mm. Dhorimanna, Chauhtan, Sedwa, Dhanau in the district have received twice the average rainfall. In Barmer on Thursday, after the whole day of heat and humidity, the weather suddenly changed at around 9 o’clock in the night and it started raining heavily. After incessant rain for about 30 minutes, the roads of the city became full of water. Water started flowing up to two to three feet around Vivekananda Circle, Kisan Hostel, Collector Bungalow and Collectorate. Due to this, the two wheeler drivers had to face a lot of trouble. Intermittent torrential rain continued till 11 pm. 40 mm of rain fell in two hours. There was a strong flow of two feet of water on the streets of the city. It rained intermittently till late night.
Last night in Piro ki Dh. village of Chauhtan Faglia, youth Nawaz Ali had left home for some important work. During this, he was badly injured by lightning. The young man died while being taken to the hospital.
