Donald Trump on Tariffs: The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced a 25 percent tariff on all products coming from Canada and Mexico due to the ever-increasing influx of illegal immigrants into the United States. Trump has also held China responsible for the entry of illegal drugs into the country and has talked about imposing an additional 10 percent tariff on China.
Canada and Mexico will have to pay heavy tariffs
In a post shared on social media platforms on Monday, Trump said, ‘The first thing I will do after taking the oath of office on January 20 is to impose tariffs on goods coming from Canada, China and Mexico.’
Trump further wrote, ‘Thousands of people are entering America from Mexico and Canada and they are bringing drugs and crime with them. Canada and Mexico can stop these illegal immigrants if they want and they have the right to do so. Therefore, a 25 percent tariff will be imposed on products coming from Canada and Mexico and unless Canada and Mexico stop illegal immigrants coming into the US through their borders, they will have to pay heavy tariffs.’
China supplies fentanyl drug
Targeting China, Trump said, ‘A large quantity of drugs, especially fentanyl, are coming to America from China. He has already raised the issue of drugs with China and China has talked about cracking down on drug smugglers, but the influx of fentanyl drugs into America continues. In such a situation, our government will impose 10 percent additional tariff on China because it is not able to stop the medicines.
