US President-Elect Donald Trump (L) and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau | FPJ Web Team
US President-Elect Donald Trump did not appear to let Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have some respite in the Christmas holidays as he mocked the latter by calling him ‘Governor’ of Canada again. Trump went on to suggest what’ll happen if Canada was to become 51st state of the US. Trump made a series of posts on Truth Social, the social media post he himself owns.
“Also (Merry Christmas), to Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada, whose Citizens’ Taxes are far too high, but if Canada was to become our 51st State, their Taxes would be cut by more than 60%, their businesses would immediately double in size, and they would be militarily protected like no other Country anywhere in the World,” said Trump in one of the posts.
The president-elect appeared to make bizarre claims and said that Greenland was “needed by the United States for National Security purposes” and extended Christmas wishes to people there.
Trump also spoke of Panama Canal and rued that the US was spending “Billions of Dollars in “repair” money”.
Panama Canal was built and operated by American workers but was handed over to the South American country after the lease expired. Panama Canal, a vital waterway that connects Atlantic and Pacific Oceans earns millions of dollars to Panama in transit fees.
In his posts, Donald Trump targeted his political opponents as well, calling them ‘Radical Left Lunatics’ and asked some ‘unnamed souls’ to ‘GO TO HELL!”
Trump, who served as US president from 2016-2020, lost to incumbent US President Joe Biden in US Presidential Elections 2020. After his loss, Trump had claimed that the elections were rigged.
He however, hailed the election system following his victory in recently concluded US Presidential Election 2024. His latest posts had a reflection of this sentiment.
“We had the Greatest Election in the History of our Country, a bright light is now shining over the U.S.A. and, in 26 days, we will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. MERRY CHRISTMAS!” he said.
