US President-Elect Donald Trump wrote a long post on Truth Social, the social media platform he himself owns, and blamed what he called ‘open borders’ of the US following a vehicle explosion outside his Las Vegas hotel. Although the social media post does not explicitly mention the Las Vegas car explosion or New Orleans car attack, it lashes out at US government and Democratic Party saying that they were responsible for making US ‘a laughing stock all over the World’.
The post was made at 10:36 am IST. This means that it was past midnight in the US. During his first term as US president, Donald Trump was often observed making tweets as late as 3 am in the night. The tweets were often full of rant against his (real or perceived) enemies.
Trump’s latest post was reminiscent of his such tweets. The president-elect blamed US government and investigation agencies who he said were targeting him instead of doing their job.
He claimed the US was ‘breaking down’ and there was a need to act fast before it was ‘too late’.
The law enforcement authorities in Las Vegas are investigating the explosion. The car used in the explosion was a Tesla cybertruck. The driver was inside the vehicle when it exploded. It has been reported in the US media that explosives, fireworks and camping fuel was present in the car and the driver was present inside the vehicle when the cybertruck exploded.
The police have identified the driver but at the time of publishing of this story, his name was not made public.
In New Orleans car attack, it has come to light that Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the driver of the car was earlier part of the US Army. He served in the army between 2007 and 2020.
Before the car attack on the Bourbon Street in New Orleans, Jabbar made videos and said that he was joining terrorist organisation ISIS.
