A truck driver, angered by being fined for violating traffic rules, allegedly called a traffic police constable a thief and posted the incident online. Following a complaint by the traffic policeman, Kandivali Police registered a case against the driver. The accused has been identified as Yashwant Bandgar.
According to police sources, on March 24, traffic constable Vikas Pol stopped Bandgar’s truck, which was being driven without a cleaner, a violation of traffic regulations. Constable Pol issued a fine (challan), leading to a heated argument between the two.
Enraged by the fine, Bandgar recorded the altercation on his mobile phone and posted the video on Facebook, referring to the Kandivali traffic police as “thieves.” He also urged people to share the video and make it go viral.
Upon learning about the social media post, Constable Pol filed a complaint at the Samta Nagar Police Station. Following an investigation, the police registered a case against Bandgar under various sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A senior officer from Samta Nagar Police Station stated that the investigation is ongoing, and further legal action will be taken against the accused based on the findings.
