Kolkata: As mentioned by party Supremo Mamata Banerjee, Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday had hit the streets against the price hike in lifesaving drugs by the central government.

The TMC leaders and workers with posters demanding revoking high prices on essential drugs and also against the WAQF amendment bill.

Incidentally, people of different minority organizations took to streets in the Park Circus area throwing traffic out of gear for protesting against the WAQF amendment bill.

The protestors were heard stating that the bill was passed in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha forcibly to divide the country.

“We will continue with our protests as the central government has a majority and through that power they have passed the bill. This bill will not only take away properties from the Muslims but will also malign us. Such an authoritarian approach will not be tolerated,” said the protestors.

Notably, a couple of days back Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and central government for allegedly playing divisive politics.

Mamata also stated that after a new government is formed ousting the present government, she will bring a motion to nullify the amendment bill.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said, “There is a slight increase in the prices made by the companies. The prices and Petrol and Diesel are most in this state due to the cess charged by the state government. Why isn’t she discarding that?”
