Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): In a tragic incident, a man took his life by jumping from a railway over-bridge in Gwalior on Sunday. It is said, he took the extreme after finding himself helpless in retrieving his money saved for his daughter’s wedding, from a friend.

According to information, the deceased was identified as Purushottam Singh, a resident of Sabalgarh in Morena, who worked as a taxi driver for a living. He saved 5 lakh for his elder daughter’s wedding, but lent all his money to a friend ,Devendra, when he was in need a year ago. 

However, when Purushottam asked Devendra to return the money, he started delaying. At the end, Devendra refused and also threatened to assault him. 

Suicide note holds Devendra responsible

On Sunday morning, Purushottam set out in his taxi but tragically jumped from the railway over-bridge. He fell head first onto the railway tracks and succumbed on the spot.

A suicide note was found in his pocket, which revealed that Purushottam had been severely distressed after his friend refused to return his money and started to threaten him 

The note also mentioned that he was deeply worried about his daughter’s upcoming wedding, which led him to take this extreme step.

Purushottam is survived by three children. His eldest daughter’s wedding is just around the corner. Police have staretd an investigation into Devendra based on the suicide note, confirmed GRP officer Babita Katoria.
