Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Traffic police have identified crossings where absence of rotaries is causing frequent road mishaps and minor collision of vehicles. These crossings which witness heavy traffic volume have become accident-prone.
The crossings are vulnerable to road mishaps as motorists often drive at high speed in the absence of rotaries. The concerned departments will be asked for construction of rotaries in the area to check the speed of vehicles which will help avert road mishaps, traffic officials said.
Citing an example of Kolar crossing, the officials said that although widened, there is no rotary at the crossing and it is observed that commuters usually drive at high speed and collide with other vehicles when they fail to see them approaching.
The scene is no different at D Mart and Chuna Bhatti crossings where rotaries are absent. Moreover, Ratnagiri trisection and the crossing at the district court are also among the spots where the absence of rotaries is leading to mishaps and collision of vehicles.
Ayodhya Nagar bypass is another area where construction of rotary has become essential as it witnesses heavy traffic volume.
Notably, Commissioner of Police Harinarayanchari Mishra has asked the traffic officials to identify the factors which are causing road mishaps and traffic jams. Police commissioner has issued instructions to coordinate with the different concerned departments and sort out the issue.
