Mumbai: The Mumbai Traffic Police posted a video on X on Tuesday, showing traffic officials clearing debris from the Ghatkopar Flyover after a spill of glass and medical waste.

The quick response of Vikhroli Traffic Division officials, including PH Atyane, PH Dagade, PN Choudhary, PN Pawra, and PN Sonawne, helped prevent potential tyre damage and traffic disruptions.

Meanwhile, in Navi Mumbai, the traffic police conducted a special operation targeting major traffic violations including seatbelt and helmet non-compliance, drunk driving, and lane indiscipline on Thursday.

The drive, which took place from 11 am to 2 pm, resulted in 1,444 violations, including 554 cases of seatbelt non-compliance, 759 instances of helmet violations, 34 cases of drunk driving, 78 lane discipline infractions, and 19 violations related to unauthorized black films on vehicle windows.

The police emphasized that these offences contribute to road accidents and pledged to take strict action against repeat offenders.

“As part of the initiative, traffic police staff were deployed at strategic locations across Navi Mumbai, conducting checks and educating drivers about road safety. Similar surprise drives will be organized in the near future to uphold traffic discipline and enhance road safety,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) Tirupati Kakade said.

The Navi Mumbai Traffic Police have issued a public advisory on traffic rules for the safety of citizens. They emphasize the importance of following traffic regulations, not only to avoid fines but also to reduce accidents and promote orderly road usage.
