Chatra, 26 November (Hindustan Reporter). Fly ash emanating from NTPC’s 1980 MW power plant located at Tandwa headquarters of the district has made life difficult for common people. The poisonous fly ash particles emitted from NTPC have made life miserable for people. Due to the transportation of fly ash from the main road, fly ash particles are accumulating on the roads as well as in the shops located at the Chowk intersection. Due to which people got angry on Tuesday afternoon. Hundreds of angry villagers stopped the vehicle transporting fly ash at Mishraul Chowk and created a ruckus for hours. After which the fly ash vehicle was sent back.
Villagers say that when a common villager rides a bike without a helmet, the officials unnecessarily harass him and issue challan. But they are showing full sympathy towards the transporters and businessmen who are reducing people’s lives to half due to coal dust and poisonous ash. Villagers said that wet fly ash coming out of NTPC keeps falling on the road from vehicles. After drying, this fly ash keeps flying in the air, getting stuck in the wheels of small and big vehicles and polluting the entire environment.
