This incident occurred in a snow-covered area known for its stunning views and popularity among visitors. Following the accident, a video of the situation went viral on social media. Authorities have urged tourists to adhere to safety rules and regulations.
Four individuals traveled to Sela Lake in Arunachal Pradesh to experience walking on its frozen surface, but their adventure quickly turned into a nightmare when they found themselves trapped in the icy water. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The footage shows that the accident occurred when the frozen ice on the lake collapsed, causing panic among the tourists. In the video, the four travelers fell into the water and began screaming for help. Fortunately, they were all rescued one by one, with bystanders’ quick and prompt actions.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and urged travelers to take precautions and always know about the geographical location before visiting. He wrote, “At Sela Pass in Arunachal Pradesh. My advice to tourists: Walk on the Frozen Lakes with experienced people, drive carefully on slippery snow roads and be aware of snow avalanche. Temperatures is freezing so wear warm clothes and enjoy. Your safety is important.”
The video also gained significant attention on Instagram, where users raised awareness about the dangers of walking on ice and encouraged people to prioritise safety above all else.
