A scary incident was witnessed during the first leg of the Tottenham Hotspurs vs Liverpool Carabao Cup match on Wednesday which involved Spurs midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur. Bentancur had returned to the starting XI after serving a one-match suspension for accumulating five yellow cards this season.

Earlier in the season Bentancur was handed seven-match domestic ban by the Football Association for using a racial slur towards his teammate Heung-min Son.

In absence of Bentacur, Spurs went onto beat Liverpool by one goal. Lucas Bergvall scored the winning goal for the team in the 86th minute. However questions were raised on the goal as Bergvall had cut through Kostas Tsimikas, forcing the left-back to leave the pitch for treatment.

Referee Stuart Attwell spared Bergvall the dismissal, and with Tsimikas still sidelined, Bergvall capitalized on a Dominic Solanke pass to score the decisive goal.
