Raipur/Bastar: Ahead of Home Minister Amit Shah scheduled visit to Chhattisgarh, the security forces intensified anti-insurgency operations in highly Maoist affected areas of Chhattisgarh including Bastar division. In a recent development, on Monday Renuka alias Banu, a female Naxal leader with a bounty of Rs 25 lakh on her head, had been reported eliminated while having gun battle in the dense border area of Dantewada and Bijapur border.
Police identified the body as Renuka, an active member of the DKSZC- Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee.
After the firing stopped, police team searched the spot and recovered an INSAS rifle and ammunition along with the body.
According to police, the encounter took place on Monday Around 9 am. After the heavy exchange firing of bullets on both sides the joint security forces searched the spot and recovered the body along with arms and ammunition from the spot.
Earlier on March 25, the security forces killed 3 Naxalites including top cadre Sudhir alias Sudhakar, a Naxalite with a reward of Rs 25 lakh. In the Bastar range, the soldiers have recovered the bodies of 119 Naxalites killed so far this year.
Moreover, on Saturday an encounter occurred between the police and Naxals on the bordering area of Sukma and Dantewada districts. A joint team of DRG (District Reserve Guard) and CRPF killed 17 Naxalites including 11 female Naxals. The encounter took place in Upampalli of Keralapal police station area.
