Raipur/ Bastar: A fierce encounter occurred on the borders of Dantewada-Bijapur, three armed Naxal fighters killed including a top cadre Maoist leader Sudhakar. Police claimed that it recovered all the three bodies from the site of the gun-fight along with the fire-arms like INSAS rifle, arms, ammunition, daily usable material and prohibited literature.

On the head of Sudhakar (DKSZCM) , police kept a bounty of Rs 25 lakh.

According to the Bastar police, Sudhir alias Sudhakar, was killed in an encounter that occurred in the bordering area of Dantewada-Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday. Superintendent of Police Dantewada Gaurav Rai confirmed his death and said, the joint team of security forces recovered the bodies of three Naxals.

The joint team of security forces were dispatched for the spot after received concrete intelligence input about the presence of Naxal cadres in the border area of Girsapara, Nelgoda, Bodga and Ikeli villages the bordering areas of Dantewada and Bijapur, under Geedam police station limits.

The joint team of security forces comprising of Dantewada DRG and Bastar Fighters fought bravely and killed the Maoists in retaliatory fire, the police officer said..

As per the information received, Sudhakar was a member of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, meanwhile the identity of the other two slain Maoists are yet to be established.

As per Bastar Range IG Sundarraj P, in the last 83 days, around 100 bodies of hardcore Maoists have been recovered in separate encounters.

Four days ago, 30 Maoists were killed in two encounters on the border of Dantewada and Bijapur districts. 26 Maoists were killed on the Dantewada-Bijapur border and 4 in Kanker. The Naxalites suffered a big loss in their TCOC (Tactical Counter Offensive Campaign) month, one police officer said.
