Pune Metro has become one of the most preferred modes of transport for Punekars. In the first three months of 2025, Pune Metro earned ₹21.6 crore in revenue, while the ridership has crossed 1.37 crore.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Pune Metro revealed its top five stations with respect to passenger footfall. “These stations see it all — the morning rush, evening sighs and everything in between! Here are the top 5 metro stations with the highest footfall across the city,” read the caption.
The PCMC Metro Station is the busiest, with an average footfall of 18,000 passengers per day. The Swargate Metro Station ranked second on the list, with an average footfall of 15,000 passengers per day. Ramwadi, Mandai and Pune Railway Station Metro Stations are ranked third jointly, with an average footfall of 13,000 passengers per day.
Shivajinagar–Hinjawadi Metro Project Completion Delayed To March 2026?
The deadline for the completion of Metro Line 3 (Shivajinagar–Hinjawadi) could be extended to March 2026. According to the information received, a consortium consisting of Tata Group’s TRIL Urban Transport Private Limited (TUTPL) and Siemens Project Ventures has requested the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to extend the deadline for the completion of the project to March 2026.
Dr Yogesh Mhase, Commissioner of PMRDA, revealed, “A request regarding the extension of the deadline of Metro Line 3 has been received. However, the decision will be taken after the joint meeting with other officials and inspections of the work.”
Recently, the project completion deadline was extended from February 2025 to September 2025. However, another request for a deadline extension has been submitted to PMRDA.
