IPL Top 10 Records: The Indian Premier League 2025 will begin tomorrow 22 March. The final match of this 18th season will be played on 25 May. The inaugural match will be played between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Eden Gardens. A total of 74 matches will be played between these 10 teams in 65 days in the IPL 2025 season.

Like every time, this time too many records will be made and broken. But there are 10 such records in the history of IPL which are almost impossible to break, but cricket is a game of uncertainty, anything is possible in this. Let’s know about these special and 10 big records.

1. Kohli’s record did not break up for 9 years

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has set a record in the IPL that seems impossible to break. This record has been unbreakable for 9 years. Kohli holds the record for the highest 973 runs in an IPL season. He achieved this achievement in 2016. Kohli then scored 4 centuries and 7 fifties. However, playing for Gujarat Titans, Shubman Gill scored 890 runs in the 2023 season. He had reached very close to this record.

2. Kohli-Diwiliers set a partnership record

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers have made a record of the biggest partnership in IPL history while playing for RCB. Both of them batted brilliantly in the 2016 season and in the match against Gujarat Lions, both of them scored 229 runs. Both Kohli and de Villiers scored centuries in this match. Kohli scored 109 runs off 55 balls while de Villiers scored 129 runs off 52 balls.

3. Chris Gayle scored the fastest century

Chris Gayle was part of RCB in the IPL 2013 season. He then scored a century in 30 balls in the match against Pune Warriors. This is the fastest century of IPL, which is not yet broken. He was followed by David Miller at number two, who scored a century in 38 balls against RCB while playing for Punjab Kings in the same season in 2013.

4. Yashasvi scored the fastest half -century in IPL

The fastest half -century in the IPL is named after Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal. On 11 May 2023, he scored a half -century off 13 balls in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The match was played at the Eden Gardens. Yashasvi completed his half -century with the help of 6 fours and 3 sixes.

5. Record of Gayle’s sixes

Chris Gayle has set another such record that will have to work hard to break. In the 2013 season, Chris Gayle played 17 sixes in a match playing for RCB. He achieved this feat by playing 175 runs in the match against Pune Warriors. It was the most sixes hit by a batsman in an innings. Apart from this, it is the highest score made by any batsman in the IPL.

6. Most runs in one over

Chris Gayle and Ravindra Jadeja hold the record for the most runs in an over in the IPL. In the 2011 season, RCB’s Chris Gayle scored 37 runs in an over of Kochi Tuskers Kerala bowler Parasnath Parameswaran. There were two no balls in this over and Gayle hit three consecutive sixes. Playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2021 season, Jadeja scored 37 runs in an over of RCB bowler Harshal Patel.

7. 6 wickets in debut match

West Indies fast bowler Aljari Joseph created panic as soon as he made his IPL debut. He made his debut in 2019 while playing for Mumbai Indians. After this, in the first match, he took 6 wickets for 12 runs in 3.4 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This record is still unbreakable.

8. The record for hat -trick three times

There is a bowler in the history of IPL who has taken a hat -trick not once but three times. The bowler’s name is Amit Mishra. Indian team star spinner Amit Mishra is the only bowler to take a hat -trick three times in the IPL. He has achieved this feat against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

 

9. This team has won the most consecutive matches

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team has done something in the IPL that no other team has been able to do till date. KKR won 10 consecutive matches between 2014 and 2015 seasons. Which is a record. Kolkata won the title in the 2014 season. If seen, KKR has won 14 T20 matches in a row. After winning the IPL, he also won 5 matches in the Champions League T20.

10. Most catches in a season

Apart from the bat and ball, there have been many exciting views in the fielding in the IPL. He has also made many unbreakable and amazing records in fielding. One of these names is from former South African veteran AB de Villiers. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, he caught not one or two but 19 catches in the 2016 season. This is the most catches taken by any fielder (not a wicketkeeper) in a session.
