PM Modi and Donald Trump meet: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet US President Donald Trump in Washington on Thursday (February 13). This will be the first meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Donald Trump in his second term. The meeting between the two leaders will discuss issues like trade relations, security and energy cooperation between India and the US. A large defense deal can also be signed between the two countries.

American media has described Donald Trump and Narendra Modi as a strong leader and said that the two leaders are good in foreign policy. An article published in the American newspaper New York Times said, “Preparations to visit Washington, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has talked about advancing the relationship during President Donald Trump’s first term.” But Trump is friends whose stance can not be given a definite statement. During this visit, there may be talks between the two leaders to increase trade. Loss of tariffs on foreign bikes and damage to tariff war can be discussed.

The issue of immigration can also be discussed.

According to this report, ‘Illegal immigration has been a tension issue. The Government of India has also clarified that it will cooperate with the US in sending illegal Indians living illegally. However, controversy arose over a recent convoy brought back to the arms and legs. Politics in India got hot on this issue. Trump’s strict stance on business and illegal immigration issues in the US has become a headache for India. So that both veteran leaders can discuss this issue. It is worth noting that Trump has threatened to ban several countries on the issue of illegal immigration and impose high fees. But India has not yet been mentioned in it.

Bilateral trade will be discussed.

The US radio channel Voice of America news website states, ‘Business is a very important link for both countries. Trump has repeatedly criticized India’s excessive tariff. On the other hand, both countries want to reduce the influence of China. Prime Minister Modi had announced a reduction in import duty on several foreign goods in early February, keeping relations with the US, already, before his visit. The expert further said that India believes that by taking such a step, it will try to solve business related problems. But Trump is also a great player. Their America first policy commites them to efforts that their people benefit. So that the heads of both countries will discuss keeping their interests in mind.

It is feared that India may reduce the purchase of arms

The article further states, ‘America is constantly worried that India will not stop buying weapons from it. Therefore, he will pressurize India to buy more and more arms. The growing influence of China is unacceptable to both countries. So that both countries can deepen their friendship with each other and build the borders of China.

India is trying to avoid the title of Tariff King

Another English newspaper, The Wall Street Journal, published an article on the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and US President Donald Trump, titled, ‘Trump called India a tariff king, and Modi wants to avoid this degree.’ It is worth noting that India imposes 14 percent tariffs on all the items purchased from other countries, while China imposes 6.5 percent and Canada 1.8 percent tariffs. Therefore, India can become a victim of Trump’s tariff policy ‘like a match’. Trump announced that he would declare a tariff war against all the countries who are charging high tariffs from them. India is the king of tariffs. However, this issue will be discussed in this meeting to be held with Prime Minister Modi and it will be resolved.
