Malda: Another leader was killed in West Bengal’s Malda in a month. On Tuesday, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) worker was killed, and two others injured in the district. According to reports, miscreants opened fire on the TMC leaders during an event, reported The Telegraph.
As per reports, Trinamool’s local unit head Bakul Sheikh. was the main target. Sheikh had reportedly gone to an inauguration event in the Naya Basti area of Malda’s Kaliachak on Tuesday.
Miscreants also reportedly fired at two other TMC workers. Out of these two TMC workers, one reportedly died on the spot. Meanwhile, Shiekh and the other TMC worker are undergoing treatment at a hospital. Sheikh’s condition is reported to be critical.
The condition of the TMC’s regional president is reported to be critical. Notably, after opening the fire, the two miscreants fled from the spot.
An investigation has been launched into the matter.
It is the second incident when a leader was targeted. On January 2, TMC councillor Dulal Sarkar was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Jhaljhalia More area of the district. Dulal Sarkar, a councillor from Ward Number 22 of English Bazar Municipality in Malda, was killed when bike-borne assailants fired multiple shots at him. The attack occurred in broad daylight at a busy intersection in the area.
