Thane: The water supply department of the Thane Municipal Corporation has started a special recovery drive to enhance the collection of arrears for water taxes across the limits of the Thane Municipal Corporation.
According to the civic officials, they have been taken an action at Mote Housing Complex, Tower, Bramhand Phase III, Lodha Crown, Dosti Corona and collected amounting to Rs 50 lakh in a single day.
The civic officials said that they have disconnected the water supply of Dosti Corona society due to unpaid water taxes owed to the concerned department of TMC. The concerned society has paid an amount of Rs 8.67 lakh to the TMC.

Moreover, an action was also taken against the high-rise building Lodha Crown in Balkum. The water supply for various water connection holders was reconnected after a payment of Rs 13.52 lakh, said Vinod Pawar, an officer from the water tax department of TMC.
According to the civic officials, Commissioner Saurabh Rao recently held a meeting with all officials and reviewed the collection of revenue across the city. Rao directed officials to reach their target for collecting revenue by the end of March. Therefore, they started a special drive across the wards in the areas of Vartak Nagar, Lokmanya Nagar, Savarkar Nagar, and Majivda-Manpada.
The water supply department said that the total arrears amount to Rs 225 crore; of this, Rs 127 crore has been recovered in the fiscal year 2024-2025. TMC urged the citizens to pay their water arrears without fail.
TMC will disconnect their water supply if they do not pay their water arrears by the end of March. Moreover, the Abhaya Yojana is extended until March 31, offering 100 percent waiver on administrative charges, fines, or interest.
