Kolkata: After Trinamool Congress (TMC) Legislative party asked party’s Debra MLA Humayun Kabir not to make any provocative and communal comments in public to which the TMC Legislator had affirmed that he will abide party’s discipline.

For his controversial comments, Kabir was first show caused by the party and after not getting satisfactory reply, he was summoned for an explanation by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay on Monday.

After the meeting, Chattopadhyay told the media that he has been asked to make any communal comments and is asked to follow the party line.

“He has been asked not to make any comments that will go against the spirit of the Constitution. We all can follow our own religious identities but as Legislators after taking oath in the name of the Constitution no one should make any provocative, communal comments,” said Chattopadhyay.

Notably, after Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari claimed that he will ‘throw out’ all Muslim MLAs of TMC after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in Bengal, Kabir on March 12 slammed Adhikari and said ‘though I am a TMC MLA but my identity as a Muslim comes before my party’.

Talking to the media, Kabir said, “I have told the committee members what I had to and will follow the party lines and also the discipline.”
