Kolkata: Amid controversy Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir on Tuesday had supported former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dilip Ghosh’s comment against women protestors.

“The one who is cornered in his own party and is sent to some other constituency for contesting the polls by leaders like Suvendu Adhikari, he will definitely get angry and will open his mouth. I am supporting Dilip Ghosh’s comment,” said Kabir.

Notably, on March 21, an untoward incident took place at ward No. 6 of Kharagpur where Ghosh was the former MP. When Ghosh arrived to inaugurate a newly constructed concrete road, the women started protesting against Ghosh asking him the reason for his absence during his tenure as MP, following which he was heard giving threats even to the protesting women and warned of even ‘choking’ them if they shout.

Replying to Kabir’s comment, Ghosh on Tuesday said that he doesn’t need any certificate from anyone.

“I am self-sufficient. I don’t need anyone’s support or certificate. Who is beside me or who isn’t its not my lookout,” said Ghosh.

TMC vice president Jai Prakash Majumdar said that Humayun Kabir has been asked not to comment anything about the party.

A couple of days back the disciplinary committee of TMC had summoned TMC MLA Humayun Kabir after his reply to the show cause letter was not satisfactory to the committee.

This development comes after Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari had said that when BJP will come to power in Bengal, he will ‘throw out’ all the Muslim MLAs of TMC from the House.

Reacting to the comment, Kabir said that for him his religion comes first then his political party.

However, after meeting the disciplinary committee Kabir was heard saying that he will follow his party lines.
