Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A newly married woman hanged herself after she had an argument with her husband over ‘gutka’ (tobacco) in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna on Thursday. Reportedly, the wife was frustrated with her husband’s habit of consuming gutka frequently.
The deceased was identified as Rachna Bai, wife of Bunty Nayak, resident of Madhi Manohar Pura village of Aron area.
Even after the wife’s refusal, the man went to buy gutka. When he returned, he was shocked to see her hanging from the ceiling. The husband then rushed her to the hospital where she died during treatment on Friday.
According to information, Bunty and Rachna were at home on Thursday afternoon. Bunty told his wife that he was going out to purchase tobacco and would return soon, however she refused. The couple had a heated argument, but the man did not pay any heed to his wife’s request and walked out of the house. Angry, Rachna warned him of dire consequences if he steps out to purchase gutka.
Bunty’s addiction to gutka couldn’t stop him and he went. Following this, his wife hanged herself with the dupatta on the beam of the kutcha house. When Bunty returned after some time, he was shocked to see her wife in terrible condition. He then called his mother and sister.
He then removed the noose from his neck and took her to the nearby hospital. The family was not satisfied with the treatment and took her to a private hospital in Guna. She died there on Friday morning during treatment.
Upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot and registered a case at the Aaron police station. Further investigations are underway.
