Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Finally, forest officials of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve succeeded in rescuing the tiger which was having a snare around its neck on Wednesday. As snare inflicted injury on the neck of the tiger, hence it was decided that the feline shall be sent to Van Vihar National Park of Bhopal for treatment.

‘We have rescued the tiger from Panpatha range. It is 7 to 8 years old. It was first tranquilized and then its snare was removed immediately. The snare left a light injury on the tiger’s neck. Hence we have decided to send the rescued tiger, aged around five to six years, to Van Vihar National Park for better treatment,’ Anupam Sahay, field director of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, said. The tiger is expected to reach Bhopal on Saturday morning.

It was on November 25 that the tiger with snare around its neck was seen in Panpatha range of Reserve. Since then, a team of forest officials was chasing the tiger to rescue it. As the tiger kept on moving, it became difficult for the rescue team to corner it for rescue. It was finally on Wednesday that the rescue team managed to tranquilize the tiger and removed the snare from its neck.

It is being understood that the snare was laid down by hunters to catch a herbivore but accidentally, the tiger fell into the trap. After the snare got fastened around its neck, the tiger might have given a strong jerk, breaking the snare wire from the snare trap apparatus. Since then, the snare was around its neck.
